Isoniazid or isonicotinylhydrazine, also known as Laniazid, Nydrazid is antituberculosis treatment used in its prevention and treatment also. Isoniazid drug was discover in 1912 and was then discovered, in 1951 that was able to cure tuberculosis. The disadvantage of the Isoniazid drug is the fact that develops resistance in a very short time after is administered. As a conclusion, it is combined with other treatments to fight against tuberculosis.

There are many forms in which we can find Isoniazid on the market as syrup, pills, injections, so depends on what the doctor recommends you to have. Isoniazid has the great advantage that is not expensive can be easily found in all the world and is usually very well tolerated by our bodies. Isoniazid represented a major step in fighting against tuberculosis and soon then things turned positive for the humanity as the survival rate increased and the disease did not make so many victims until Isoniazid appeared.

Isoniazid has also an antidepressant effect and the dose that the doctors recommend varies from one person to another. In some cases, there may be second effects as rash, liver problems, hepatitis, metabolic acidosis, central nervous system as well as other problems that may interfere after Isoniazid is administered. Consult and ask your physician if it is alright to take Isoniazid. In many cases, if the patient has not other problems, the Isoniazid is associated with other medicine to be strong enough to defeat tuberculosis. As well as other medicine, when you take Isoniazid, do not drink alcohol as you will have problems with liver, this being caused by one of the side effect that Isoniazid may have on you. In case you have difficult side effects, go to the hospital or call your doctor and see what he tells you. Usually, Isoniazid is tolerated very well by most of people and was the revolutionary medicine when it appeared as tuberculosis had already made a lot of victims among people. Follow the treatments as long as the doctor tells you to, so you can be suer that you have defeated tuberculosis from your body.

Everybody has heard of Penicillin as the first antibiotic. However, a lesser known but equally important drug that has been used is called Isoniazid. This is an organic drug that was developed in the early part of the 20th century as a cure for the disease Tuberculosis (often abbreviated to TB). TB has always been a big killer and although it has now been pretty much eradicated in the western world it was a disease that was rife well into the 1950s when there was a massive drive to wipe it out. Now, of course, in the UK children are no longer given an injection for TB because it is no longer deemed to be a risk to health. Going back to 1912, when the drug was first discovered, they would be dreaming of the days when TB wouldn’t be a risk as so many families had lost numerous members to this horrible disease.

It must be noted that the drug isn’t a permanent cure as the TB bacteria quickly gains a resistance to it but as a short term cure that slows the disease it was of vital importance. One way in which it has a more lasting effect is in its use as an antidepressant and, in fact, it was one of the first antidepressants used and a main drug on the NHS until the mid 1950s. The drug doesn’t come cheap though; a yearly course can cost as much as $8000 but the benefits that it gives you are innumerable; if nothing else, killing the latent TB bacteria could save your life.

Isoniazid is available in both 100mg and 300mg tablets and is consumed orally. It is an antibacterial treatment with the chemical name of isonicotinyl hydrazine with a formula of C6H7N30. It is both odorless and colorless and recommended for the treatment of all forms of tuberculosis. Active tuberculosis, however, requires multiple doses of several medication. In addition for the treatment of both active and inactive tuberculosis, Isoniazid is an effective tuberculosis preventative therapy for those with HIV, those who are in close contact with persons afflicted with infectious tuberculosis, people with abnormal chest radiographs, and those with a medical condition that causes an increase in the risk of tuberculosis.

It is important to note that several forms of hepatitis are associated with the usage of isoniazid and has been reported as a development occurring months after treatment. This risk is related in age. Those who are younger in age have a much lower risk of developing hepatitis but the risk increases significantly for those over the age of 35 with an occurrence of 12 per 1000 people. The risk doubles for those over 50 with an occurrence of 23 per 1000 people surveyed. This risk is also increased with consumption of alcohol therefore, those taking isoniazid should not consume alcohol while undergoing treatment. Patients using isoniazid should be monitored by a doctor and treatment should stop at the first sign of hypersensitivity. Those over the age of 35 experience greater risk associated with the drug and as a result should weigh the benefits with the risk.

Isoniazid is a drug used to treat and prevent tuberculosis. It is an antibiotic that prevents bacteria from multiplying within the body. It is a prescription drug that should be taken exactly as prescribed in order to be effective. Once treatment has begun, your symptoms will begin to immediately improve. Isoniazid will greatly reduce the symptoms of tuberculosis immediately and has a relatively low instance of side effects. If you possess any of these symptoms you may need to change the standard treatment.

Each dose of isoniazid should be taken with a full eight ounce glass of water and on an empty stomach at least one hour before your two hours after a meal. You may be able to take isoniazid with food if nausea occurs, ask your physician. It is critical that you take all the prescribed medication even if you feel better. This is because that is the only way to completely get rid of the tuberculosis. You may also need to supplement your isonizid with a B6 vitamin in order to prevent some of the numbing side effects.

Before taking isoniazid, be sure to talk with your physician. Be sure to discuss any possiblallergic reactions to the drug as well as your history of kidney or liver disease.

As with any drug, it is important to avoid alcohol as it may increase the risk of liver damage during isoniazid treatment. As always, contact your doctor if you experience any serious side effects such as dizziness, numbness, nausea, vomiting, yellowing of the skin/eyes, or any other serious effects occur.

Isoniazid is a drug used in the treatment of tuberculosis and is available worldwide as an inexpensive treatment. Although it is a relatively cheap treatment that is available worldwide, it has a host of adverse reactions which could be serious to deal with. This can make taking Isoniazid a risk for health in some people. The most problematic side effects for people can be very dangerous. Aside from the potential help that this drug can provide for tuberculosis, it can also be dangerous to sensitive individuals.

The common reactions are rashes, abnormal functioning of the liver and hepatitis. Other ill side effects can include sideroblastic anemia, high anion gap metabolic acidosis, peripheral neuropathy, mild central nervous system effects, and many different drug interactions resulting in increased phenytoin or disulfiram levels. This can also lead to epileptic seizures which are uncontrollable. Headache, poor concentration, weight-gain, poor memory and depression are usually side effects of isoniazid use. Patients with suicidal thinking should avoid the use of Isoniazid because it may increase these thoughts.

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when using Isoniazid in people who have neuropathy due to diabetes, uremia, alcoholism, malnutrition, HIV-infection as well as pregnant women. Those with a seizure disorder may also need a vitamin B6 supplement to help prevent seizures and replace the depletion of the vitamin during the course of Isoniazid.

Hepatotoxicity and liver damage can be avoided with close clinical monitoring of the patient. Symptoms which can provide clues to hepatotoxicity will include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and appetite increase. These can help to prevent severe painful and potentially fatal side effects from liver damage. Isoniazid is metabolized by the liver mainly by acetylation and dehydrazination which could cause overworking of the liver. Keeping properly hydrated can help to better process the Isoniazid during its use.

Isonicotinylhydrazine or Izoniazid for short is most popularly known as the first medication to help prevent and cure tuberculosis. It was invented in 1912 but it was not until 40 years later that someone discovered it could actually be useful as an anti tuberculosis treatment. It is an organic compound, and since being bought out by several pharmaceutical companies it is now available in a variety of forms including tablet, syrup and it can also be administered as an injection.

As with most drugs it does have several side effects when taken by patients. The most common being body rashes and problems with the liver as it may have trouble digesting the drug. Dose amounts vary, but depend on the condition it is treating. People with liver troubles, or pregnant women will be given lower doses and perhaps some supplements to help increase the effectiveness of the medication. There is also a link between depression and long time users of Izoniazid, thus health care workers should be aware of these symptoms if treating patients who have suicidal or depressive tendencies.

As with any prescription medication always make sure you have a consultation and receive advice from your doctor – never self medicate. Izoniazid is a serious drug and should only be administered by practicing doctors, taking the wrong doses could lead to disastrous consequences. However if taken correctly Izoniazid can provide a much needed cure for tuberculous, dulling down and even ridding the patient of the disease. Be safe.

The organic compound isoniazid can be found in a drug that was formulated way back in the 1930s when the disease tuberculosis was running through the lands of the world and killing people indiscriminately. However because of the research done by science and the after effects of technological advancement from the First World War isoniazid was a discovery that altered the face of the always changing planet. The use of the drug other than to fight tuberculosis can cause problems such as liver damage that is not repairable. It should be known however that the use of the drug on its own to fight this terrible disease will only cause more damage.

The drug isoniazid is what medical staff call an active drug that actively goes around the body on what might be best called a search and destroy mission. Without bacterial influence the drug will not take any effect however once in the body there is no way that the bacteria could not reach the drug to set off the reaction. Like many drugs the use of this particular drug does come with side effects such as the above mentioned liver problems. Hepatitis is also a common symptom of using isoniazid and the central nervous system can be affected as well.

The organic compound known as isoniazid is most commonly used in the anti tuberculosis medicines that are used around the world including the main use of the medicine in third world countries where tuberculosis is still commonly spread among people that live in poor conditions. Isoniazid compound is used as a serum to combat the tuberculosis infection because this is the only form in which it has any positive effects against the disease.

Tuberculosis is catch by the patient when they breathe in a particular agent called tubercle bacilli which causes the subject to get strong fevers of high temperatures as well as causing breathing problems that ultimately lead to scarring in the lungs. Until the development of the serum in the 1950s tuberculosis was known to be a very deadly disease which has had outbreaks all around the world.

When it comes to a the problem of catching tuberculosis (TB) there is often much anguish because of the dangers involved to the individual who has caught it and the potential spread of the disease to others. Isoniazid is the latest of medical drugs used to fight the infection by reducing the spread of the bacteria in the body to help control the outbreak. The drug isoniazid has been manufactured in direct relation to the prevention of the spread of the bacteria however doctors can use isoniazid for other medical practices as well.

Isoniazid has been known to cause allergic reactions in some people which symptoms include uncontrolled itching, diarrhea, severe headaches, irregular heart beat and an upset stomach. These side effects are minimal and can be remedied by reducing the dose amount of the ingested formula which the doctor will adjust for you upon request. Although child birth and becoming pregnant is a dangerous ordeal when a woman is infected with TB it is still unknown if the isoniazid drug affect the pregnancy. Generally speaking it would not be a good idea to get pregnant when you have contracted TB and doctors will prescribe an alternative medicine if you are already pregnant.

When prescribe the drug isoniazid be sure to follow the dosage directions exactly otherwise side effect will be more common. If you have been prescribed the drug by a doctor then make sure to listen to their advice for the administration of the medicine. When in doubt about the right dose consult you pharmacy or GP for more advice to fully understand what will be the right dosage for this kind of drug.

General advice such as do not take alcohol or other drugs when using isoniazid is pretty mush common sense. Liver damage can be increased when mixing alcohol and isoniazid so make sure not to add further risk to your body than you are already. Certain food types, especially dairy foods may cause upsets to the stomach and toilet habits for patients that have allergic reactions to this drug.

When taking a course of isoniazid it is important to complete the entire course so that the TB infection is completely subsided. It is a good idea to have a second consultation with a doctor after the medication is complete so that the doctor can clear you of the infection. Do not stop a course if symptoms start to slow or stop because often the bacteria are still in the body.
